LIMNE (2024)

ARTWORKS / BIO CRAFT TECH

“Limne is a fragment of an ancestral lake that inhabits the body of a spider that weaves songs of water.”

This is a poetic biotechnological exploration in which a spider-shaped sculpture contains a culture of cyanobacteria, which are monitored to visualize internal environmental conditions in real time. At the same time, various images of future cities appear, generated with AI and inspired by Tenochtitlán (Aztec city). When the audience sends CO2 into the spider’s body by blowing through a hose, the images of these utopian cities disappear to reveal hard data on the water and carbon footprint generated by our technological consumption. Meanwhile, a pair of woven pieces are activated by the audience’s touch to play a series of chants, the result of training an AI with water sounds.
